On Sunday afternoon I spoke to our leaders about our campaign that ends on Monday, 30th April.
As of today the debt stands at $79K. We thank all of you who have fulfilled your pledges.
Currently the number of unfulfilled pledges is 661. Total unfulfilled pledges stand at $1.5M.
Let’s do our best to fulfill our pledges. Let’s encourage our care group members to do so.

The Last Leg of Our Breakthrough Journey |

We started the year with $1.32M in debt. As of 9 Apr 2007, we have received $1.10M in cash gifts.
Praise the Lord that our outstanding debt has fallen below the $230K mark. We thank you for your faithfulness.
The Bible speaks of grace givers (2 Cor 8:2-7) – people whose giving has been truly exemplary and extraordinary. The Macedonian Christians were outstanding in giving. They
helped the Jerusalem Christians in Palestine. They gave more than money; they gave themselves.
As we fulfill our pledges, may we do so as an expression of our devotion to Jesus as our true King.

Before we got Nexus, we had 1,400 people. Today we have close to 3,200 people.
We started this year with $1.32M in debt. As of 26/03/07, we have received $852K in cash gifts.
One group in Adults ministry (NG1) published a ‘2006 Breakthrough Testimonies’ booklet with 88 pages.
The outstanding debt currently stands at $468K.
Our campaign ends 30 April 2007.

It started with $10.32M. Now we're down to $1.18M. We have come a long way in repaying our debt. It is our goal to complete the repayment by 30 April 2007. The finishing line to a debt free church is near. By God's grace we can complete it when together we fulfil our Breakthrough giving pledges.

Second Campaign Milestone |

23-24 Sep 06 was our second campaign milestone celebration.
There were many highlights. They included a Breakthrough video on pledge fulfillment, a song presentation, a fresh newsletter and two acrylic displays charting financial giving and church growth goals. Pastor Dinah’s message on trusting God and living the faith life resonated with the congregation. People’s faith was boosted and many were ministered by the tangible presence of the Holy Spirit. At the end of the morning Sunday service, a regular visitor excitedly handed Pastor Dinah a 20K cheque.
Over the weekend people gave $59,000 bringing total cash gifts to $1,471,735.
Fulfilled financial pledges now stands at 96.

15 Years of Breakthroughs |

The last time we got together for anniversary was 2001 at Harbour Pavilion. This is 2006.
Andrew as DJ did a great job together with the greeters to usher a lot of people in to a new place. The ‘History Maker’ lights were concert like (1,500 bulbs in total). The dance and video presentations was of a high standard. The worship team did well and the large choir was visually impactful. It was just great atmosphere from start to finish.
Excerpts from the anniversary message: “We will reach an increasing percentage of our city. People in the city will meet Jesus, discover their gifts, get equipped for their life purpose and sent into their mission. We will work with Hope churches to reach the world. I believe that our greatest possibility to change the world is through the Hope movement.” Pastor Ben
The confetti with balloons was a cool end to a great party. It was totally not draggy though it was a 3 hour service. Throughout the service you could sense genuine joy. When it was over people wanted to stay on, throw confetti, take photos with the ‘History Maker’ lights and just cherish the moment.
It was a very good first-time event for us at Expo. Our VIPs kept thanking us for inviting them. The anniversary planning team and all supporting teams did a great job and worked very long hours. Bless you!
The strong feel good factor carried over. Members were all over Singapore including the East Coast beach on a Sunday morning! They were all in high spirits.

The team has just started their first care group meeting on 16 June. They had 13 visitors (6 men and 7 women) who are mostly professionals. The care group meets every Friday. Thank God for this breakthrough!

We Thank God for Our First Ever Men’s Conference - A Band of Brothers |

Approximately 450 men attended our first ever Men’s Conference, A Band of Brothers, last Friday. It was truly an experience for all the men present. Our hearts were encouraged, inspired and challenged as we spent some quality time with God and one another.
Here are what some of them saying about the conference or on the fact that we had the conference:

Our church in Johannesburg in South Africa celebrated her 7th Anniversary on 26th March 2006. A total of 44 people joined in the celebration service.

Hope Santiago 1st Anniversary |

Hope Santiago, Chile celebrated her first anniversary on 7 April. The theme for this celebration was a Community Church. There was a total of 28 people (including the 3 church planters and Charmaine Chee who was there on pastoral visit). One girl came to know the Lord during the service.
We congratulate Hope Santiago for another breakthrough milestone.

Our church-wide Breakthrough campaign is not limited to adults and youth. Our kids have caught on.
One of the earliest breakthrough stories here involves little Jing Teng. He told his story during HopeKids Live on 26 March 2006. He had a bad fall in early February and was in a very critical condition. Through much prayer and faith, he was miraculously healed. We saw a healthy and lively Jing Teng testifying of God’s power.
HopeKids are seeking to have breakthrough victory in thought, speech and heart. The children are learning this from young.
While 26 March 06 marks the end of the 3-part Breakthrough series at HopeKids Live, it’s just the beginning of countless breakthroughs and victories coming our way. The challenge is believe and join with God. HopeKids sure dares to imagine.

History was made in Nexus on 14th March 2006. It was our church's launch of Team Ministry and it was our first-ever team ministry gathering. Over 90 members were part of this breakthrough.

We had another great milestone celebration last weekend. Youth had special services too. There are so many people who are experiencing God do something in their lives as they move out in faith. Here are some powerful giving stories.
Story 1 - We were inspired by a new school teacher. This member lived on one bun a day in NTU. With no savings to give in a lump-sum way, this church member is giving 20% of gross income each month as part of campaign giving on top of the 10% tithe each month. That’s 30% of income every month.
Story 2 - One member pledged 4 months of salary. He postponed a proper honeymoon with his wife and his MBA studies for the Kingdom. Recently he decided to fulfill the entire pledge instead of giving each month or waiting till the end of the campaign.
Story 3 - We were so inspired by a member who is single mum. Her son is 14 years old. This mom gave 5 months of her monthly income as part of campaign giving on top of her monthly tithe. She works in a temp job hoping for a permanent job. We pray God will give a great job to this great mom.
Story 4 – This is the story of another mom who is new Christian and not a member yet. She tithes monthly, gives $1,000 monthly as part of campaign giving and $500 monthly towards global missions.
Story 5 – This is the story of a regular visitor who tithes monthly. This visitor made a Breakthrough pledge. We have banked in the fulfillment cheque of $25,000. This is one of the largest single cash gift thus far.
The giving stories continue on with you… You are on the brink of a faith breakthrough.

First Breakthrough Milestone |

We started our first campaign milestone celebrations last weekend. Youth had a special ‘Wired’ event. It was an exciting weekend.
The Bible in 1 Chronicles 14:8-17 tell us God broke through in the strongest place of the enemy. Similarly God wants to give you a breakthrough in those areas of your life that the enemy is the strongest. If you have problems, you are a candidate for a miracle. Here is the challenge. Remember what you have pledged. It may be a healing, career, ministry or giving. Act on it. Believe something is going to happen.
If you have not made campaign commitments yet, now is a good time to start asking God how you can be involved.

We celebrated with 106 people who was baptised at Big Splash on 19th Feb. One person was 56 years old. They took a step of spiritual growth. There were 106 big
splashes yesterday. We were so excited that many families and friends came to witness this event including some families from KL (Malaysia).

Breakthrough Wallpaper for Mobile |

Since we are in the midst of the Breakthrough campaign, I thought it would be great to have the Breakthrough logo as wallpaper on my mobile phone. It serves as a wonderful reminder to me of the Breakthrough campaign and also of the need to pray over the pledge that I have made. This helps a lot as the campaign stretches over 21 months. Keeping the logo in sight helps me to keep the campaign in mind.
In the middle of Dec 05 I copied the Breakthrough logo from our church website and transferred it to my mobile using a USB cable and interface software. I’m using a Motorola phone which allows me to use image files for my wallpaper. As the logo is horizontal, I chose the option to tile it to fill up the screen. All you need is the image file. Just move the cursor to the Breakthrough logo at the top and right-click with your mouse, then choose the option Save Image As (remember where you save the file for hassle-free retrieval later). Transfer the image file (which you need to ensure is in a format recognised by your mobile) to your mobile either through a USB cable and interface software, or you can choose to use Bluetooth or Infrared to transfer the file to your mobile. From your mobile, go to the option for setting your wallpaper. Choose the logo you have just transferred and make any necessary changes to the setting to achieve the best effect.
In fact, you can use the image file as a wallpaper on your PDA and computer.

Congratulations Church! Over the past one month we have received hundreds of breakthrough pledges. A member has even send in multiple post-dated cheques for faith giving. This is amazing. We are grateful for the members and friends who have pledged.
Whilst we can be proud of what we have achieved to date, we have only seen the beginning of the amazing works God wants to do through our Church. As we look ahead and step out in faith to give we create a future for a whole new generation of people to meet Jesus Christ. Our passion is to build the House of God, and more than ever our vision is to reach people for Christ and nurture them to reach someone else for Christ.

We are at a turning point in our church. Breakthrough is our concerted faith journey as a church starting 1 Aug 05 till 30 Apr 07. Breakthrough is about nurturing the ‘mustard seed’ faith in each of us to believe that our God is a God of all possibilities. It is about changed lives, transformed lives. It’s about experiencing God’s power and His grace to overcome challenges and ‘move mountains’.
We will embark on a spiritual process both individually and as a collective body. The focus is to walk in faith and to have personal faith breakthrough in every aspect of our lives.
As we mature spiritually in this Breakthrough faith journey, it will result in deepening commitment to Christ, improved relationships, increased servant-hood and greater willingness to provide tithes and sacrificial gifts.
We desire to be like the Acts church - a people on fire for God, a community of faith. They were growing not only in numbers but also in character and in spiritual power. It’s not a case of either-or but both-and.
Specifically by the end of 2005 we are moving towards reaching 2,800 people participating in attendance, launching 5 global teams and moving towards debt retirement.
Breakthrough campaign going forward has both a faith personal/ministry track and a faith giving track.
Next weekend is when we will have an opportunity to make a commitment to present both our Faith Personal/Ministry Pledge and our Faith Giving Pledge.
May you take time to pray and ask God to make clear to you, regarding your part in fulfilling His purposes through our church and what you may do in your life to present a sacrificial gift.
Allow this time to be a period of growth and a time of revival in your own life. Breakthrough will be an unimaginable adventure when we journey together with faith. His greatest blessing comes when He calls us to be spiritual pioneers, explorers and even conquerors.
