Jeff first visited Hope Singapore in February 1992. Coming from a nominal Christian background, he came to know Christ in a personal way here. He has since brought his dad and mom to know Christ personally.

Jeff graduated with an Engineering degree from the Nanyang Technological University. He resigned from the market place in 1995 to study full-time in our Bible College after which he joined our church staff team.  He met Claudia, who was serving as a student leader and a full-time church staff then, and they got married in 1997.

Leading the church to fulfill God’s vision is Jeff’s passion. His favorite verse, Acts 20:24, “However, I consider my life worth nothing to me, if only I may finish the race and complete the task the Lord Jesus has given me—the task of testifying to the gospel of God's grace”, underlies this passion and the way he lives and serves.

Jeff aspires to see the church making a greater impact in Singapore. He envisions a church filled with peoples from all life stations and all people groups – people who want to grow deeper in their relationships, as well as grow wider in their reach. He wants the church to be that city of refuge where the poor and the rich, the strong and the weak, young and old, man and woman, smart and simple and all that is in between can find God and find authentic relationships.

He believes that the church will continue to expand its global impact, to extend what God is doing in our local churches to the other parts of the world. Many have gone out to fulfil this calling and come back to our local shores. He is confident that many more will follow suit.

Jeff’s appointment as senior pastor from 28 March 2009 marks a new chapter in his life, and in the life of the church in fulfilling God’s calling and the Great Commission. Previously, he was involved in pioneering our Youth service, and has also served as Missions Manager. He has led our Pastoral Division for the past 4 years leading all the people groups in the church. He has also ministered in many countries from Europe, Africa to Australia, teaching and preaching the Word of God to the churches there. Together with Claudia, Jeff currently also serves as the leader overseeing the Church Growth and Leadership Conferences for Hope International churches.

Lawrence has been with Hope Singapore since coming to Singapore from his home in Australia in 1991. He has been extensively involved in pastoral ministry beginning with the Polytechnic ministry.
In 1993, he and his team spearheaded missions work in Melaka, Malaysia. This culminated in a seed church being pioneered that is still growing. His heart for missions has led him to minister in churches in Australia, South Africa and South America.

Lawrence was also instrumental in establishing our worship ministry and he has served as the Deputy Director of our Equipping Division and was involved in our Event Programming and Community Ministry. His ministry is marked with a prophetic dimension.

He also serves on the Central Committee of the Evangelical Fellowship of Singapore (EFOS) and the Board of Hope Centre (S), a non-profit organisation dedicated to empowering youth to build caring communities.

He is married to Pat, a dentist who serves fully with him. Lawrence holds a Bachelor of Applied Science (Physiotherapy) from Perth. Before joining the church staff, he worked as a senior physiotherapist in a local hospital and also in private practice.

Outgoing Pastors

After more than 12 years of serving as Senior Pastor in Hope Church (Singapore), Pastor Ben KC Lee and Dinah are embarking on their new appointment as Regional Director, and will focus on serving and leading the Hope Americas churches full-time. They will be based in Los Angeles from September 2009 onwards.

In the past 2 years, Pastor Ben and Dinah have been working closely with our international leadership and local eldership towards a spiritual, strategic and sustainable baton passing, leading to the appointment of Pastor Jeffrey Chong as the senior pastor. This repositioning will generate great impact in both Singapore and in the Americas.

Ben was born in Borneo. He came to know Christ at a young age through the influence of his mom. Shortly later his parents sent him to boarding school in Singapore. He spent eight years here before doing university in Perth, Australia. It was here he first became friends with Dinah, Charmaine, Johanes and Lawrence. After Perth, Ben started his professional career with a 'Big Four' accountancy firm in Singapore. He also tutored accountancy part-time in the Singapore Polytechnic.

17th February 1991 was the start of the dream to build the global city-church. The first worship service started with Ben, Dinah and three other people in a friend’s apartment. Ben and Dinah got married the following year and the twins arrived four years later. The family enjoys swimming, reading and vacation time with Ben’s family of origin.

Ben considers it a privilege to serve the local church. His life vision is to fulfill the Great Commission out of Singapore, convinced Singapore is a unique nexus for church planting to reach the farthest ends of the world. This vision takes him and his wife around the world where they have trained pastors and tentmakers on five continents. They have sometimes been described as offshore missionaries.

Ben served as lead pastor in Hope Singapore. A CPA turned pastor, Ben has been quoted as saying, "I used to count money but now I count sheep". Ben is founder and president of a non-profit community organisation. He also serves in the Executive Committee of the Singapore Centre for Evangelism and Missions.

He has served in the Executive Committee in the National Council of Churches in Singapore. In addition, he has also served as coordinator for Hope International churches in Europe, Southern and Eastern Africa, the Americas, as well as Hope International’s coordinator for Church Growth and for Missions.

Dinah came to know Christ at a young age encountering persecution for her faith. Later she did a degree in public relations and journalism in Australia. Upon graduation, she began a career in public relations consultancy.

Interestingly, just before graduation she received a prophecy that she will marry a pastor. That she did without realising it!

Dinah was one of the original five in the first worship service in 1991. Members remember her active involvement in missions despite being heavily pregnant with twins.

In her own right, she pioneered our community ministry in 1996. She has led family ministries where she also developed our first marriage preparation course. In 2001 she led our first ever mega Carnival at the Park – a church building fund project that saw the mobilisation of more than 1,500 members and friends. The event also attracted TV and press coverage.

Besides looking after two growing kids and a busy husband, she ministers with him in Singapore and overseas. She previously led our Operations Division. Dinah has the gift of teaching, administration and moves in the prophetic when ministering to individuals. 

Dinah enjoys the outdoors – away from the built-up urban environment.
