Why we exist? (aka Our Vision)

We aim to serve as a platform for men from all services to build authentic relationships and grow together. Some guys may have difficulty doing so as their (care groups) CGs are predominantly female. They need support from men outside their CGs. Besides our shepherds and other men in the CG, having an additional strong network with men in other parts of the church allows us to leverage on one another’s strengths and resources in times of needs. This network serves as a supplementary support structure that goes across all services and provides male role models for men to inspire one another in serving the church, community and the nations.

We also aspire to be a resource centre in providing help in men’s discipleship. This enhances the discipleship element in the church to contribute to “building strong and biblical” male disciples.

What we do? (aka Our Activities)

We have 3 main types of activities:
a) Men’s Ministry activities (e.g. Quarterly mini-workshops, Annual men’s summit)
b) Men’s Discipleship sessions (e.g. Prayer-Breakfast, Sports Programs)
c) Support in church and small/mid-size events (e.g. Breakout sessions in church camps)

As a start, we like to focus on building working adult men for the initial years (2008-9). We aim to rise up men to act as Men’s Discipleship Champion in their mid-size groups. The Champions will promote the men’s movement to others in their units/sub-districts and provide the most direct impact on our men by inspiring others to serve. When we subsequently achieve buy-in from men in other life stations, an informal but natural network of men in cross-services groups will be formed, whereby men will minister and mentor one another

The theme for the first stage of the men’s movement will be “He ain’t heavy, He’s my brother”. This is a natural progression from 2007’s men’s summit theme, “Operation Bear”, whereby we challenge men in the church to bear with, and bear/‘carry’ one another. Our key verse is Job 29, signifying the model of the biblical man we hope to become.

Who we are? (aka Our Structure)

We have a small core team of feet washers, always on the look out for more who are willing to just serve. We dream to have a Men’s Ministry Champion in each mid-size group (e.g. unit/sub-district). The core feet washers will work closely with the Champions to grow the men’s movement at the ground level.

We also rely on volunteers’ help in organising various men’s ministry activities (including the annual men’s summit).

Who we serve? (aka Our Target Audience)

Men from all services, especially those who require fellow men support and guidance. We hope that older men will act as role models for their younger counterparts and encourage them to server in advancing God’s Kingdom.
