The Habit of Thanksgiving

"With praise and thanksgiving they sang to the LORD : "He is good; his love to Israel endures forever." And all the people gave a great shout of praise to the LORD, because the foundation of the house of the LORD was laid." - Ezra 3:11

Recently, my girlfriend spoke a word of truth in me that I did not seem to have the habit of thanksgiving. This came to me as a surprise as I have always been giving thanks during meal times. However, she was not referring to "grace-saying". You see, she gently expressed that the joy of the Lord did not seem to radiate from my countenance for a long time and over the months, I seemed to either flare up rather quickly over an issue or did not seem to be happy about myself or anything. Out of the wisdom from God (I believe), she suggested writing at least one thanksgiving point each day before I go to bed! Why didn't I think of that earlier?
