Our Pastor's Message

Pastor Christie Ong
Dear friends, brothers and sisters in Christ,
We praise God for a very fruitful and blessed 2009. As we enter into a new year, let’s make 2010 a year of prayer for us as a church, for God said that He Himself will meet us in our prayers. As we march into 2010, let’s heed the word of Our Lord Jesus, for He says:
Luke 11:9-10 (NIV) “So I say to you: Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives; he who seeks finds; and to him who knocks, the door will be opened.”
John 16:23-24 (NKJV) “And in that day you will ask Me nothing. Most assuredly, I say to you, whatever you ask the Father in My name He will give you. Until now you have asked nothing in My name. Ask, and you will receive, that your joy may be full.”
Your prayer reflects your faith in the Almighty God. When you pray, ask boldly and believe that nothing is too difficult for God. Some people think that they are being humble by not asking God for things or on the other extreme, asking for too much things. How they have forgotten that Jesus paid a precious price to give us abundant life! He loves to hear us call upon His name!
I encourage you to be bold and dare to believe God for greater blessings and abundance. Don´t just think "survival" when God is thinking "abundance." If you will think bigger, you´ll see God act bigger in your life!
As we enter into 2010, decide to increase your expectancy and get into agreement with God and His Words. You might be planning on having an average year but God has already lined up an extraordinary year. You might be planning on just getting by but God is planning abundance. He is planning overflow.
Oftentimes, we look at situations that are happening in the natural realm. We might be looking at the global economic downturn and our bank account, and be tempted to think that there is nothing much to expect this year. But we have to realize that God is a supernatural God. Just because we don't see a way doesn't mean God doesn't have a way. God cares for you and He will direct your steps. He will put the right people in your path and put you at the right place, at the right time, to bless and prosper you.
As the Scripture in Hebrew 11:6 reads, our faith pleases God. So take a step of faith today and dare to believe that God will do the impossible in your life! Expect greater things from God and believe that you can do greater things for God this year!

Filipino Pastoral Staff
Sis Gigi Distor
Jerebel Distor is one of the Sub-District Leaders of the Hope Filipino Church, and the only full-time Filipino staff of Hope Church Singapore. She worked previously as a Clinical Research Co-coordinator at the National University Hospital.
Brought up as a devout Roman Catholic, Jerebel committed herself to the Lord and became a born-again Christian in 1997. Since then, there was no turning back. In her 12 years of serving in the Filipino Ministry, Jerebel has been used by God mightily and effectively. She currently heads the Outreach Department and Growth Campaign of the Filipino Ministry in Singapore. Under her leadership, the Outreach Campaign has produced many effective caregroup guides / strategies in reaching out to more Filipinos.
Even in her personal life, God’s tangible move cannot be mistaken. God used Jerebel to reach out to her own parents and siblings. Today, all four siblings are deeply-rooted in the church, serving in various leadership levels and ministries. Her parents, still shuffling back between Manila and Singapore , have also accepted Christ in their lives and understand the passion burning in their children’s hearts.
Her thoughts when she was invited to become a full-time staff in 2009:
“When I was challenged by my shepherd to be a full-time staff, I agreed right away. Prior to working full-time, I view my work outside as a means to support my ministry and that is why I deliberately looked for an office work schedule to allow me to serve God fully. Now that I’m a full-time staff, I thank God and I'm really glad for the opportunity and privilege to serve Him with all the time that I’ve been given.”
Her thoughts on her current role and what is ahead as a full-time staff:

“God is simply AMAZING for He continues to bring me to greater heights in my serving. In my one year as a full-time staff, I've seen myself growing more and more yet at the same time, having the balance of enjoying my time with family and friends. I have been exposed to do things in a greater capacity, such as my involvement last year in our Church Anniversary and our Filipino Church Camp. This year, I am going to Hope Ealing in UK to help the church reach another milestone. It's a whole new dimension of learning for me and I’m excited to be given a privilege to touch the world.”
