Hope Seminary (HopeSem) is part of Hope Church (Singapore) as its equipping centre for global church; where experience, knowledge and skills learnt at HopeSem can be applied and honed in the environment of Hope Church (Singapore) and beyond.

Certificate Programmes

Hope Seminary is offering 4 certificate programmes in 2007. The 4 certificates offered are:

* Certificate in Church Planters’ Training,
* Certificate in Global Christian Studies,
* Certificate in Global Christian Ministry and
* Certificate in Pastoral Counselling

Instead of taking singular modular courses, students are encouraged to consider joining one of the 4 certificate programmes. Upon enrolment of this program in trimester one of 2007, students are able to obtain their certificate within a period of 3 years.

EVENING COURSE


TH102 Christian Ethics (2 credits)

Date & Time: 22 May – 24 Jul (Tues) 7.30pm – 10.30pm
Venue: America Room @ The Nexus Auditorium
Course Fee: Members - $40, Friends - $60
Instructor: Mr. Sum Tze Wei

Synopsis
This course teaches theological and biblical foundations which determine the formation of moral decision-making and shapes the Christian's personal lifestyle in the light of the Kingdom. Selected contemporary moral issues will be examined in the light of biblical teachings. The course will include an overview of the Bible's call to the church to be mobilised in addressing crucial social and ethical issues which affect the whole nation and the world.



EM104 Church Planting In Acts (3 credits)

Date & Time: 4 May – 3 Aug (Fri) 7.30pm – 10.30pm
Venue: America Room @ The Nexus Auditorium
Course Fee: Members - $60, Friends - $90
Instructor: Ms. Charmaine Chee

Synopsis
This is an exposition on chapters 11-21 in the book of Acts from the angles of pioneering new people groups and planting churches. Through the study of Paul’s strategies of church planting and related issues to church planting, students can apply the principles learned and adapt these strategies today to fulfill the Great Commission in their lifetime.



BS102 New Testament Survey (3 credits)

Course Fee: Members - $60, Friends - $90
Instructor: Ms. Huo Yin San

Synopsis
This course is designed to offer an overview of the composition and content of the New Testament. It highlights the historical, social, economic, religious background out of which Christianity arose. This course examines the major themes of the New Testament and offers the student a practical and contemporary understanding of God’s plan and purposes for His end-time Church.

EM101 Evangelism (2 credits)

Synopsis
This course provides a comprehensive overview of evangelism. Included are various models and methods of evangelism that have been used or being used in the world today. Students will learn how to apply the lessons presented to benefit their personal life, ministry and the world at large. From the broad coverage, a proposal for local church context is integrated and applied.

Financial Information

HopeSem is a non-profit institution affiliated to Hope Church (Singapore) and is supported generously by the church. Student fees are heavily subsidised by the Church and hence they are minimal in relation to the actual costs of education programmes

1. Course fee payment is made easy by paying only the number of course credits taken in each term.
2. Members of Hope Church (Singapore) receive an additional 33% subsidy on course fee, above the already significant subsidies by Hope Church (Singapore).
