The purposes that God have set before His Church are way beyond what it can ever handle on its own, and the Church is certain to fail its calling unless it is guided and strengthened by God Himself. And for this reason, the Holy Spirit has been active throughout the history of the Church, although in recent decades, believers all over the world have been witnessing fresh moves of the Holy Spirit as He readies the Church towards the imminent coming of Christ.
But having the appearance of the supernatural does not necessarily mean that an event or behaviour is therefore honouring God or serving His purposes in the world. This was precisely the misconception that the early Corinthian church struggled to understand, and what Paul was trying to teach them as recorded in 1 Corinthians 12-14.
Join us this September and October as we walk through Paul’s exhortation for the Corinthian Church on moving in the Spirit, and recognize that the only effective strategy to build God’s Church God’s Way is to be “Spirit-Empowered”.
