BS501 Principles of Bible Study

 
The Bible is the richest and most exciting book in the world and the Christians’ most important resource. This course assists students to develop fundamental skills in the interpretation and application of the Bible. It offers a methodical approach to Bible study in which students are equipped with necessary attitudes and tools in summarising, analysing and concluding the Holy Scriptures. An intensive inductive study is made of the Book of 2 John.

BS521 New Testament Foundations 1

 
This course is designed to offer an overview of the composition of the New Testament, a survey of the New Testament world, as well as a study of the Gospels and the Book of Acts. It highlights the historical, social, economic and religious backgrounds out of which Christianity arose, and will include a study of the occasions and purposes leading to the writing of the Gospels and the Book of Acts. Special emphasis will be placed on the major theological themes as they are surfaced through these books, thus providing an essential foundation for interpreting and understanding the whole New Testament.

BS512 Old Testament Foundations 2

 
This course covers the second half of the Old Testament – the Poetic books and the Prophetic literatures. It includes the study of the historical, geographical and cultural background of each of these books, as well as outlines of their content; but special emphasis will be placed on the major theological themes as they are surfaced through the study of each book. This will thus provide an essential foundation for interpreting and understanding the Old Testament and offering a practical and contemporary understanding of God’s redemptive plan and purposes for His Church and the world.

BS511 Old Testament Foundations 1

 
This course covers the basic principles of interpreting the Old Testament. Participants will learn the first 17 books - the Pentateuch and the Historical books of the Old Testament. It includes the study of major themes, historical, geographical, and cultural background; thus providing an essential foundation for interpreting and understanding the Old Testament and offering a practical and contemporary understanding of God’s redemptive plan and purposes for His Church and the world.
