Text: Joshua 5:13-15; Joshua 6: 207; Joshua 24:14-15

The second character we are looking at is Joshua. Joshua was recorded as one who whole-heartedly followed God all the way till the end. From Joshua’s life we learn the importance of surrendering our pride, obeying without delay and walking with God.

General Questions:

  2. Share one habit or spiritual discipline that has helped you to walk consistently with God.

Perspective Questions:

  1. What do you think are underlying reasons or root issues that cause us to struggle with surrendering to God? Consider areas such as finances, career ambitions, life goals and relationships.
  2. We often find it easier to obey God when our heart posture is one of surrender. Do you agree? How would you describe the differencebetween obeying out of surrender versusobeying out of duty, fear, or habit? What do you think helps us grow towards joyful, willing obedience?
  3. We may start off humble and reliant on God but our successes, achievements and experiences can lead us to pride if we are not careful. How can we remain humble before God while experiencing God’s blessings and successes?
