1. Being in the world but not of the world can create a tension when we have to decide if we would participate in festivals or celebrations in the world. Do you face this tension? How do you navigate it?

Perspective Questions:

1. When we think of idolatry, we may think of idol figurines and places of worship. However, idolatry at its essence is a worldview. It is finding security and significance in something else besides God. It is being disloyal towards God. What are things besides God that believers can give their allegiance to?
2. Sometimes we refrain from participating in festivals or events in the world because we do not want to stumble others. What are some examples you can think of? What should be the motivation for not wanting to put a stumbling block before others?

Application Questions:

1. How can believers guard against an idolatrous worldview?
2. How would we respond to someone who asks, “Can I celebrate Halloween?”
