Parent-Child Dedication

Children are a wonderful heritage and blessing from the Lord! 

Psalm 127:3 says “Children are a gift from the Lord; they are a reward from him.”

The purpose of a Parent-Child Dedication is a time specially for parents to present their children before God and the church, seeking His grace and wisdom to undertake their responsibilities to be godly parents who will commit to model what having a relationship with Jesus, following and loving Jesus looks like and to raise them in His ways and be rooted in a spiritual community.

 

Parent Commitments

Because parents are the main spiritual role models and caregivers of their children, during the Parent-Child Dedication, parents will stand before God and the church, to make the following commitments:

  • Commit to be the main spiritual caregivers of our children, raising them in the ways of the Lord, teaching and modelling God’s Word to them.
  • Commit to discipline and correct our children with love, so that they can grow up within God’s safe boundaries defined by His Word.
  • Commit to lead our children to know God’s love and, when they are ready, to personally acknowledge Jesus as their Lord and Saviour.
  • Commit to partner with the church to raise our children to dedicate their lives, abilities and resources to fulfil the Great Commission.
Common Questions 

Who can sign up for Parent-Child Dedication 2025?

  • Parents must be both Christians
  • At least one of the parents is a Hope Member
  • Parents of Infants, toddlers, pre-schoolers, and children under 12 years old are invited to sign up for this special Parent-Child dedication.
  • All participating parents and child must have a registered conference ticket
 

Is Dedication the same as Water Baptism? 

Hope Singapore believes that water baptism is for those who have made a personal decision to trust Jesus alone for their salvation, once they have the maturity and ability to understand what that means and publicity declare their faith. Parent-Child Dedication is a time specially for parents to present their children before God and the church, seeking His grace and wisdom to undertake their responsibilities to be godly parents.

What should I expect during a Parent-Child Dedication?

During the ceremony, parent(s) publicly commit to help their child grow in their faith and to raise them in a home centered on Jesus. Our Pastor/ leaders will also pray over the families and a certificate will be presented to the parents.
